Corner

This is where Rise is her strongest

Versatile Combos

Rise's 2.5 corner combos, unlike her 1.1 combos, will usually follow 2B > 5B > 236C, which will work on crouching opponents and standing opponents. Because of this, most of Rise's corner combos will work on both standing and crouching.

Safejumps

Rise's corner combos tend to lead into safejumps (AKA setups where you can safely jump at the end of a combo to threaten an overhead while being safe from reversals if you do so). In order to perform these correctly, you will need to hold 'back' as you j.5B so that as soon as you land you will be considered blocking. This is to safeguard against people mashing reversals on wakeup and escaping from the corner.

Because of the way most safejumps are set up, you will likely be able to punish opponents who reversal on wakeup regardless of if they super cancel because of lingering note explosions, meaning that in most situations, the opponent will be better off taking the mixup than chancing a reversal.

However, it is important to always be ready for the opponent to reversal, and to make sure that your safe-jumps are actually safe. Practice safejumps against training dummies and set them to reversal as soon as possible, and see if you can successfully block the reversal.

Types of Note Pop Safejumps

Rising Note Pop

This type of safejump pops notes on the ascent after jumping, making the note pops hit meaty. This allows for an option to airdash close to the ground for a high, or an option to land for a low. This option can be rolled if you choose to opt for an overhead.

Descending Note Pop

This type of safejump is more traditional, and hits the opponent with j.5B on the descent. From here you may opt for a fuzzy setup in jump cancel j.5B, but this option is reliant on the jump being very close to the ground, so beware. Generally after you land you can opt for an IAD j.5B for a high or a 2B low.

Setups from Corner Setplay

Rise's notes allow her to perform a fuzzy in the corner that converts into a full combo if it lands and allows for pressure to continue afterward if it doesn't. This is done by hitting j.5B low to the ground, jump cancelling, and immediately hitting j.5B again to hit them high, and cancelling it with j.5A to avoid lingering in the air. This does not work on characters who are short, which generally follows the list of characters who can be hit with a 22A in the corner from 5C without a delay, which is shown here.

j.C forces the opponent slightly forward in the direction opposite to Rise on block, meaning this can be used in conjuction with an OMC to create a gap to steal the corner and surprise the opponent with a crossup in the corner, at the risk of being DP'ed and losing corner. This can be combined with the fuzzy above to create a truly hard to block setup, though it is execution intensive and dependent on character.

(Combo) > 5AA > (forward jump) > (air turn) > j.C(1) > OMC > j.5B (on fall) > (optional fuzzy if able) > start pressure on block or combo on hit

If you delay the j.C enough, you can trick an opponent who knows about this setup to think you're crossing up, while staying on the same side.

Since note pops push the opponent to the direction opposite to Rise on block, a concept similar to the j.C corner steal can be applied to create a meterless corner steal setup that is beaten by reversal options.
